Weaving Threads of Meaning
“weaving exclusively with natural fibres”
I am a Johannesburg-based textile artist, weaving exclusively with natural fibres for the past four years. Working with wool, mohair, silk, cotton, cashmere, alpaca and linen, I hand spin and hand weave one-of-a-kind wall pieces on my portable looms. My process is intuitive and responsive, guided by the material itself and the emotional thread of a story rather than a fixed design.
What began as early experimentation has grown into a deep connection with fibre and mindful making. Each piece unfolds slowly, shaped by touch, rhythm, and reflection. I draw from memories, lived experiences, and imagined futures — exploring themes of love, gratitude, kindness, nature, and the quiet beauty held in everyday emotion.
I do not repeat a piece. For me, weaving is a form of storytelling — an honest translation of feeling into fibre. When it feels meaningful and aligned, I remain open to creating commissioned pieces.
